A Traveler's Guide to Coral Springs

Coral Springs is a city that is located in the southeastern portion of the US state of Florida.  It is located in Broward County approximately twenty miles north of Fort Lauderdale.  The city was incorporated in 1963 and has been recognized as one of the most beautiful cities in South Florida.  WCI Communities master planned Coral Springs and gave it its name.  Ironically, there are no springs located near the city.  The city has traditionally had very low crime rates and has been recognized as one of the top 15 places to live in America by Money Magazine.  English is the primary language of Coral Gables, although there is a growing percentage of the population that speaks Spanish.

There are no professional sports teams in Coral Springs, however because of the warm temperatures year round the city is host to over 20 amateur sports leagues.  The city has facilities for baseball, softball, football, soccer, basketball, and many other sports.  There are also several major golf courses at Coral Springs.  TPC at Eagle Trace has hosted the Honda Classic golf tournament in the past and TPC at Heron Bay has hosted it as well.  The Sportsplex is a multi-use facility in town that houses ice rinks, tennis courts, Olympic size pool, and jogging paths.

The Coral Springs Center for the Arts is a large building used to present live theater and musical performances.  It occasionally hosts popular Broadway shows.  One of the most popular festivals in Coral Springs each year is the "Our Town" Festival.  It features car shows, beauty pageants, carnival rides, musical performances, and food booths.
