Pompano Beach is a city that is located on the southeastern coast of the US state of Florida. Florida is located in the southeastern portion of the continental United States. The city was incorporated as the Town of Pompano in 1908. The name was later changed to Pompano Beach to try to attract more people to the area. After the invention of air conditioning more and more people moved to south Florida to escape the brutal winters of the northeastern states.

Pompano Beach has a humid subtropical climate, which means hot summers and mild winters. Summer temperatures can reach into the 90's Fahrenheit from time to time but winter temperatures rarely dip below 40. Rainfall occurs year round, but it occurs most heavily during the summer months of June through August. Thunderstorms can be heavy during the summer months, and the area is vulnerable to hurricanes because of its location on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean.

Pompano Beach Airpark, located in the city itself, is the home of one of the Goodyear Blimps that are used to cover sporting events and other events.

Pompano Beach is within driving distance of Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport.
