While there are no professional sports teams in the city of Winston-Salem, there is no shortage of semi-professional and college sports. The Wake Forest University Demon Deacons participate in the NCAA Division 1 ACC league. The city also hosts a minor league baseball team, The Dash, named after the dash between the names of Winston-Salem. The city is home to Hanes Mall, the largest shopping mall in North Carolina. The surrounding area is one of the largest shopping districts in the state.
