Chiang Mai Flower Festival In Thailand

Located in northern Thailand, the beautiful city of Chiang Mai was founded in 1296. Although the city celebrates several festivals throughout the year, Chiang Mai Flower Festival is what stands out the most. It is a three-day celebration that takes place in February when the city’s tropical flowers are in full bloom.

The flower festival takes place at the Suan Buak Hat Park, where the whole area is turned into an open-air exhibition and you find yourself amidst beautiful flowers and decorative plants. Apart from that, you will also come across contests, sales, and impeccable beauty to keep you occupied. During the festival, parades take place across the city, where you get to see vibrant-colored floral floats and ethnic dancers.

The highlight of the festival is definitely the floral floats as the most creative and beautiful display wins a trophy, which is awarded by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. But, that’s not the only competition, throughout the duration; you will come across various exciting contests and also stumble upon beautiful plants for sale that can seriously jazz up your place.

The main event is held in Nong Buak Haad Park and Thapae Gate, and the doors are open from 9 AM until 12 AM. From agricultural exhibitions to landscaping activities and food festivals to music performances, you are in for a fun-filled time.

Generally, on day one, you can expect an agricultural fair, along with the latest landscaping trends and enthralling floral arrangements. On the next day, you can enjoy a parade of alluring and artistic floral floats that travels from Nawarat bridge to Thapae road, Kotchasarn Road, Changlor Road and finally to Nong Buak Haad Public Park.

These floats are humungous, vibrant, and unbelievably exotic. Here, you will also find marching bands, traditional dancers, and even school groups accompanying the floats. Throughout the celebration, you will find plenty to eat, drink and have a merry time.

If this entices you and makes you want to hop on a plane, the event will be held from 07-02-2020 to 09-02-2020. Apart from the festival, Chiang Mai has a lot to offer. From several temples, museums to national parks, you can plan a diverse itinerary.

During this time, the weather in Chiang Mai is extremely pleasant, with slightly warm days and cool evenings. In fact, the weather in Chiang Mai is always cooler than the rest of the country, with its average temperature being 77 degrees Fahrenheit.

It is approximately 445 miles away from Bangkok; hence, it will take about eight hours by road and an hour and ten minutes by air. If you want to reach Chiang Mai directly, without having to travel to Bangkok, there are regional flights available from Hong Kong, China, Singapore, and even Malaysia.

It always is a good idea to opt-in for travel insurance while booking your flight – a small cost that goes a long way in protecting you from unforeseen circumstances.

When it comes to accommodation, you have nothing to worry about. From hotels to hostels, you will find a plethora of options to ensure your stay remains comfortable. But make sure to bring you’re A-game, when it comes to bargaining. This will help you save quite a lot!
