What should I remember when it's time to check out and leave ?

Always look around your room completely.
Check all drawers.
Look behind the bathroom door. Your bathrobe might be hiding there.
Take a quick look under your bed. Your shoes might be hiding there.
If you have a balcony, check it for swimsuits left to dry.
Open up piles of sheets and comforters and unroll them if necessary.

What do I do at check out time ?

Keep a close eye on your luggage.
Be sure that you have removed any items left in the hotel safe.
Don't forget to turn in your room key, even if it's a plastic key card.
Check your bill thoroughly to verify that any additional charges are warranted and any coupons or discounts are applied, BEFORE you accept the bill.
Make sure that the charges are being placed on the credit card that you intended to use.
Be sure that frequent guest program and VIP club credit was properly applied.
Always ask for and get a receipt. If you paid cash, be sure that the receipt specifies "paid in cash".
Remember to tip the bellboy that handled your luggage, the concierge if you used his services and the shuttle driver for taking you back to the airport.
