How to Pick the Best Room
|
|
How do I know which hotel has the best room for me ?
|
-
It depends on your individual. Consider the questions below to help make a decision.
-
Can they or will they provide childproof rooms ?
-
Do they have physically handicapped rooms available or those designed to assist elderly guests ?
-
Will they provide smoking or nonsmoking rooms upon request ?
-
What types of beds and bedding arrangements are available ?
-
Are they equipped with any special bathroom amenities such as Roman tubs, whirlpool baths or bidets ?
-
Can they guarantee adjoining or connecting rooms for families who want to be close together ?
-
Are there any rooms set up for business travelers, with large desks, data ports and faxes ?
-
How about rooms with kitchenettes ? If so, determine what they consider a kitchenette. It can vary from a wet-bar with sink, to a small complete kitchen with the cooking utensils. Since you’ll be paying extra, ask exactly what you’re getting.
-
Can you specify a room in a particular area or level of the hotel ?

Why is a certain location of the room important ?
|
-
Outside rooms may be next to a busy street, highway or off-ramp.
-
Interior courtyard rooms are usually more expensive. Poolside rooms, which can provide easy access and a nice view, can also be noisy.
-
Rooms located near restaurants, stairwells, elevators, ice machines or the lobby may be convenient, but are usually noisier. Stay away from rooms above or next to a hotel’s bar or disco..
-
Ground floor rooms are easy to break into. On the other hand, upper level rooms may be too high in case of fire or other emergency.
-
Rooms with balconies may be dangerous if you have small children. Consider a ground level room and just make sure it is secure.
