Quebec City is the capital of the Canadian province of Quebec and is the second largest city in the province behind Montreal. The primary language spoken in Quebec City is French. Very few residents of Quebec City speak English as their first language.

It was later ceded to France and then eventually joined the other provinces in declaring its independence from France. Because of its northern location, Quebec City has been classified with a humid continental climate, which means warm summers and cold winters. The seasons are very distinct. Summer temperatures generally stay in the 70's to low 80's Fahrenheit but winter temperatures can dip well below freezing for several days on end. Snowfall is very common in the winter months, and the summer months can see quite a bit of rainfall from year to year.
Quebec City is famous for its Winter Carnival, which is one of the largest of its kind anywhere in Canada. It is a celebration of local culture, music, and food. The Summer Music Festival is the same except it is held in the warmer summer months. Several popular tourist spots in the city include the Mont Sainte Anne ski resort, the Ice Hotel, the Basilica of Sainte Anne de Beaupre, and Montmorency Falls.

The Parc Aquarium du Quebec is the largest aquarium in the city and overlooks the St. Lawrence River. It is home to thousands of fish and other animals from all over the world.
