Friday upon Arrival

Buy an air ticket to Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport, and once there check in a hotel either in or near Plaka area, which is a beautiful feel village in the heart of the city.

Post check-in, head out to visit the ancient Greek temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion, once through have a laid-back lunch at one of many taverns located on the beach.

After this, may your way to The Acropolis of Athens, an ancient fortress that has remains of prominent ancient buildings such as Parthenon.

Friday Night

Early into the night, walk down to Kydathineon Street and have ouzo in any of the cafes. Later, dine at Byzantino which has some good food. Option 2: You can take a trip to Delphi or Nafplio. Explore the ancient culture, view classical Greek world, hilltop museums and ruins, etc. You can even stop for a swim on the way.

Saturday Evening

You can choose to spend a quiet night at one of the restaurants in Plaka. If you want a peppy evening, with people drunk and dancing the night of head to Psiri, listen to live music, old rembetika, and laika.

Sunday Morning

Watch the Changing of the Guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Syntagma Square, and shop at the Monastiraki Flea Market for antiques, vintage clothes, and collectables. Sunday is busy day at Athens and the roads and cafes are swarming with people.

Alternatively, you can drive to the beach and lunch at one of the local taverns. If you have some time in hand, visit the any one of the many museums, galleries, and archaeological sites.

Sunday Afternoon

Sunday afternoon is bustling with people. Watch the parade of serenading musicians on Sunday and reward them with small money. Choose to hang out in Monastiraki at Adrianou Street.

Alternatively, you could go to the beach, Sounion, the Attika Zoological Park, or feast on amazing roast lamb, pork, goat or beef in Psistarias of Vari and take a tour of the Megapanos Winery or hike on Lycavettos.

Sunday Evening

If you are in Athens for the Sunday evening, you should grab tickets for a film playing at Cine Paris outdoor cinema on Kydathineon Street, Plaka. If not, then you can just spend a quiet nightfall by the beach, drink some wine, and reflect on the amazing Athens weekend.
