Traveling around the world is often a dream for a globetrotter. Because of globalization, the countless traveling and stay options, traveling has never been simpler or more exciting. But there are some places on planet earth which you should see only on TV or in books, as they are way too dangerous to travel. Before we reveal the names of travel risky countries, know the four advisory levels (according to the U.S. Department of State), from low to high regarding safety and security.

Level 1 – Exercise Normal Precautions.

Level 2 – Exercise Increased Caution.

Level 3 – Reconsider Travel.

Level 4 – Do Not Travel.

Next, here’s a list of countries, which you should avoid:

Kenya

Kenya is a beautiful country in East Africa. With its coastline on the Indian Ocean, Kenya is home to Great Rift Valley, the Savannah region, and multifarious wildlife. But unfortunately, despite having so much to unravel, we put it on the list of one of the most dangerous places to visit. Wondering why? Because, according to the State Department, it is prone to terrorism, armed carjacking, kidnapping, and what not! So, we advise you need to cross it on your travel bucket list for safety reasons.

Colombia

Colombia was once upon a time, Colombia was one of the most dangerous places in the world because of the famous drug trades in the 80s and 90s (Remember Pablo Escobar). The Department of State has put it in the category of increased criminal activities such as assault, homicide and armed robbery. Kidnapping for ransom is common there. If these are not enough reasons for you to cut it from your bucket list, here is another. Bogota (in Colombia) is infamously famous for demonstrations and protests.

Iran

Iran has always remained a less-traveled destination by people all over the world, primarily because of increased terrorist activities, risk of arbitrary arrest and detention of U.S. citizens on bogus charges. Not to mention, it has also become disreputable due to the outbreak of COVID-19, which has further added it to the list of notorious countries in the world.

Pakistan

This Muslim-dominant country in South Asia may have a low homicide rate, but owing to a lot of active terrorist organizations operating within its borders, Pakistan has earned quite a poor reputation in the traveling list for itself. In fact, the high rate of terrorist violence has put it in the 3 or 4 Advisory levels from the U.S. State Department. So, if you don’t wish to be a guest to public bombing, we suggest avoiding this destination, altogether.

The Sub- Saharan African Countries.

What does the Central African Republic, Somalia, and Mali have in common? Well, all pose a risk from terrorist action. Apart from this, they have a high rate of road deaths, poor air quality, and substandard medical care. Aren’t these reasons enough to consider your traveling plans?
